I definitely feel like Libby is getting more and more comfortable with us. She's starting to act more like she knows we're her parents and not long-term babysitters. In the last few days she's wanted to be held quite a bit, which is wonderful considering that she'd hardly let us hold her at all for the first couple weeks. We're still dealing with some sleep issues and trying to get that sorted out, but she's at least been less restless the last couple nights. I think she's feeling more secure and I hope that continues.
Things are about to start getting crazy as far as Dr. appointments go. Next Wednesday Libby has an appointment with the International Adoption Clinic at the U and the following Monday she'll be having her heart catheterization. Right now it's scheduled for 1 pm, but there's a good chance it will get moved up to 8am which would be wonderful. It's not that I enjoy getting up that early, but I think it would be miserable for Libby to not be able to eat all morning. In the meantime, we will also be scheduling a CT scan because our family doctor is a little concerned about her head size and the fact that she still has a soft spot that hasn't closed. He said that he's not that worried, but feels we should get it checked out and her cardiologist agreed that he'd like a CT scan done before her heart surgery just in case there are any issues that he needs to be aware of. After the CT scan we will have to meet with a pediatric neurologist to discuss the results. I'm not too worried about this right now as I've seen no reason to believe she has neurological problems and our family doctor said he's not overly concerned either. He just feels we should get it checked just in case. She probably just has a large head.
At this point I'm concerned about how Libby will react to all these appointments and procedures. A big prayer request would be that us "subjecting" her to all these things won't cause her to trust us less. I want her to know that we will protect her and take care of her and I know she won't understand why she has do all of these things.
On the bright side, we are really enjoying the beautiful fall weather. I'm so glad we've brought Libby home at a time when we can spend time outside comfortably. I'm hoping to do as many fun things with her as we can before the weather gets cold. I think we'll try to do Como Zoo soon. Libby really seems to love animals and I think that would be a lot of fun for her. For the last few days Gabe, Josiah and some of our neighbors have been in the process of building a large leaf pile. We'll have to let her play in that and get some pictures. I doubt she's ever played in a leaf pile before!
