Libby's Name
We've had an unusual development over the last 3 weeks. All of a sudden Libby decided that she didn't want to be called Libby, but Rui Rui (Rae Rae) instead. For three weeks now she has very consistently insisted that we call her Rui Rui all the time. That was actually the name they gave her in the orphanage and we kept Rui as her middle name when we adopted her. I'm not sure if she remembers being called Rui Rui or not. We have called her Rui Rui every once in awhile since we adopted her and maybe she just heard us say it and liked the sound of it. I'm fine with calling her that, but I'm surprised at how insistent she is that her name is Rui Rui, not Libby. I'm also wondering how long she'll keep it up. As she shows us more and more of her personality I'm realizing that she has a little stubborn streak! I love seeing the real Libby (Rui Rui) coming out.

Saw your parents at church today he he told us the sames thing. Elizabeth is insisting on us calling her Libby :)
ReplyDeleteI think that's very healthy. Hopefully it's just the beginning of her remembering and being able to tell you about her life before coming here. I treasure every memory that Aidan shares with me.
