Lots of Questions

I finally found the cord to my camera so I have some pictures to share:

On Monday we will have had Libby for 6 weeks. It feels like she's always been a part of our family and I can't imagine life without her, but it's weird to think that there are 18 months of her life that we know very little about. The more we get to know her the more questions we have about her life in China. We wanted to visit her orphanage while we were there, but the orphanage director would not allow us to do that. Before going to China we had sent a care package to Libby and included a disposable camera for the orphanage to use. We recently had those pictures developed and while there are some cute pictures of Libby we were disappointed that none of them were taken inside the orphanage. We were hoping to see where she slept, ate and played. Most of the pictures were just repeated shots Libby with 2 other girls all in the same location outside. We're happy to have these pictures, but disappointed that they don't give us more insight into what life was like for her in the orphanage. I know that as she gets older she's going to have many questions about the orphanage and her life there and we won't have answers for her. I can only imagine how frustrating that will be and I wish we could give her more information. There are 2 older girls in many of the pictures we got and there is a baby younger than Libby in a few of the other pictures. It makes me sad to see these children and not know if they'll be adopted. I especially wonder about the older girls since most people want to adopt babies. I pray that those girls find forever families soon.

Tomorrow Libby will be having an adoption shower at our church, which should be a lot of fun. I'm excited for everyone to meet Libby. She is so shy around people she doesn't know and I'm sure she'll be very quiet and just stare at everyone the whole time, but I'm hoping she'll warm up a little as she gets used to everything.

Finally, Libby's MRI is scheduled for this coming Friday morning. She will have to be sedated again, which kind of stinks, but it sounds like we may be able to leave the hospital straight from the recovery room if everything goes well. I'm hoping that after the MRI is complete we can schedule her surgery. Her cardiologist said she would most likely be in the hospital for 5-7 days when she has her surgery but it could be longer if any complications arise. Libby is a strong girl and I'm hopeful that she'll recover quickly so we can go home as soon as possible. I'm hoping to get the surgery done before the holidays so we can enjoy Libby's first Thanksgiving and Christmas with us without an upcoming surgery hanging over our heads. It is nice that Libby has been home while the weather is so nice. I think October in Minnesota is my favorite month. I love the fall colors, the apples and the cooler temperatures. We've been especially blessed this year with near perfect weather. Libby loves being outside!!
