Libby's MRI

Libby had the MRI of her head and chest this morning and everything went fine. We don't know the results yet and were told that the cardiologist would call us in 1-2 weeks to discuss everything. I'm assuming they saw no problems other than what they already know about. Hopefully we'll be able to schedule her heart surgery soon and get it over with before the holidays. Libby reacted to the whole procedure much better today than she did when she had her catheterization. Of course, this was a much less invasive procedure, but I was still happy that it wasn't as hard for her. Both of the boys went with us because Gabe was off for MEA break and that proved to be a real blessing. When Libby woke up crying after the procedure it was Gabe that got her to calm down. As soon as she heard his voice she got really quiet and looked around for him. Then she started pretending to knock him over and he willingly played along which made her very happy. Gabe and Josiah really are wonderful brothers! They are so patient with Libby and always want to entertain her and help take care of her. Gabe is constantly talking about how Libby is the best and cutest girl in the world. It warms my heart to see how much he loves her.

We found out this week that Libby has a vitamin D deficiency so she has begun taking vitamin D and calcium supplements. I guess this isn't that uncommon for children who have been in institutionalized care because they often have poorer diets and don't get outside as much. Hopefully after taking the supplements for 8 weeks the problem will be rectified.

Last Sunday there was an adoption shower for Libby at our church and we had a wonderful time. My dear friend Kellie organized it and did a great job! Another friend of mine, Vickie, had a sweet devotional to share which was especially meaningful as she also has a daughter adopted from China. Her and her daughter also read a story together which was very sweet. I can't believe how many presents Libby got! She is going to be the best dressed girl around. It means so much that people are excited to embrace Libby as part of our church family. We are very thankful for our church and the support they have given us as we've gone through this adoption journey.

We are excited for this weekend because Jon's sister and her family will be coming to visit. They haven't met Libby yet and it will be fun to introduce them to her. Gabe and Josiah are very excited about seeing their cousins for the first time in a few months. It will be fun to see how Libby gets into the mix. She tends to warm up to other kids quicker than she does adults, so I think she'll really enjoy playing with her cousins.

I hope everybody is enjoying the beautiful fall weather we've been having. I heard on the radio today that experts say we will be having a colder winter with more snow. I don't mind the snow, but I could do without the cold. I'm going to try and enjoy these last warm days before the chillier weather kicks in!!
