It's a Date

It looks like we finally have a plan for Libby's surgery. Her dental appointment today went fine so I was able to call and get her surgery on the calendar. Right now it is set for Monday, January 3rd, which will actually be perfect because Jon is off that whole week. My parents are also planning to drive to MN to help out. One month from today our little sweetie will be getting her heart repaired. It's scary, but I know it's what needs to be done. I was researching her surgeon and found out he graduated 1st in his class at medical school, so that gave me some added confidence. Jon and I will be having a consultation with him next Thursday so we can get all the details about what exactly they need to do and what her recovery will look like.

The past few days I've really seen a difference in Libby. I feel like she's really bonding with me and is understanding that I'm her mom, not just a caregiver. She's referring to me as "mama" or "mommy" all the time and not just when she's mad or upset. She's smiling more, laughing more and playing more. It's hard to explain, but it seems that she's deciding to let her guard down more and trust us more. I know she still has many insecurities, but I trust that over time God will help her overcome those and understand that we will never leave her and that we love her with all our hearts. So many times this week I've felt myself bursting with joy at the thought that she's my daughter. God certainly chose the perfect girl for our family.
