We felt so blessed this past week to spend our first Thanksgiving with Libby! She loved her turkey dinner and spending time with her cousins, aunt and uncle and grandma and grandpa. I still can't believe that God has given us this wonderful gift and that she is our daughter. Jon and I marvel that we were allowed to bring this precious girl into our family. She is such a joy and we fall more in love with her everyday.
Our big news is that we now have a kitten. She showed up on our front doorstep a few days ago and we brought her in for "just a few minutes" to warm up. We gave her a little food and water and then allowed her to sleep in our garage. Well, the next day was even colder and we felt sorry for her so we decided that she would spend the day in our garage, but she could sleep in our laundry room at night. I sent Jon to the store to get a litter box so there wouldn't be any accidents and I knew I was in trouble when he also came home with a cat bed. Today he came back from the store with a scratching post, 2 cat toys and some good canned cat food and now I can't deny that we have a pet. The kids are excited because they've wanted a kitten for a long time and Libby absolutely loves the cat. Sometimes she loves her a little too much and the cat tries to keep her distance. Now we just have to come up with a name for the kitty. We can't seem to come to a consensus.
We still haven't heard from Libby's cardiologist and it's getting a little frustrating. I continue to call every week. Each time his nurse tells me he should call me back on Friday, but I still haven't gotten that call. I guess this week I'll have to get more aggressive and call everyday if I need to. I was really hoping to have Libby's surgery scheduled by this time. In fact, I was hoping that she would have already had her surgery! Now that we're getting into flu and cold season I'm afraid that sickness could delay her surgery even longer. We've been purposely limiting her contact with people in the hopes of keeping her healthy and it seems to be working so far. She's had a couple little colds, but nothing serious. This past Wednesday she got her second round of immunizations and was able to get a special immunization for RSV. It took several weeks for our insurance to approve this immunization since it is very expensive, but I'm glad she's able to get it since RSV could be very dangerous for her with her heart defect.
We're now getting excited to spend the Christmas season with Libby. We put up our tree yesterday and she really likes all the lights and ornaments.
