Our blog was started to keep friends and family updated on our adoption process and to serve as a journal that our daughter can read when she's older.

We Have A Name!
For over a month now we've been trying to decide on a new name for An Rui and we knew we wanted to incorporate at least part of her Chinese name into her new English name. For awhile we thought we would name her Anna Rui. We liked the fact that both of her Chinese names were represented, but for some reason the name didn't seem quite right to me. There were several other names we considered; Ellie, Ella, Emma, Elisabeth, Mia and Delaney. Today, however, we received a phone call from the travel coordinator at our adoption agency telling us he needed to know her English name right away. I felt a little foolish that after having her referral for over a month we still hadn't decided on a name and I told him I'd send him an email in a few minutes. After I hung up I explained to Jon that we needed to make a decision now and that I already sort of had my mind made up. I told him and the boys that I was leaning toward the name Libby. I've liked this name for many years and I've never met a Libby I didn't like. Libby means "God's promise" and Rui means "happy" and I like the idea of our daughter being God's happy promise! Jon and the boys were both happy with the name and we made it official by letting our agency know. Now we are trying to get used to calling her Libby Rui instaed of An Rui. I'm sure it won't take long!
